The Food Trucks Are Coming!

20160623 1720 VORH food trucks fb event

The Food Trucks Are Coming! And they’re parking one Monday a month at The Village of Rochester Hills from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

What’s so great about food trucks, you may ask? I’m so glad you asked!

Here’s my Top Five Reasons Food Trucks Rock:

5. Outside > Inside If you’re burned out on grilling, it’s a great option that gets you out of the hot kitchen and your family outside. Bring a blanket, have a picnic, make a fun night of it!

4. Variety is the Spice of Life (and Food Trucks) Family can’t decide on one type of food? That’s the beauty of the food trucks. There’s a whole lot of options parked conveniently close together. No one can agree? No problem.

3. The Joy of Discovery A wasabi dog? Why not? Unlike a restaurant with a 10-page menu, food trucks typically specialize on one specific thing. Enjoy that mastery and try something new! If someone has taken the time and effort to devote their food truck to hot dogs, like The Mean Weenie, you know that’s going to be one darn good dog.

2. Fast It’s a scientific fact— although your clock says Monday has 24 hours like any other day, it’s the longest and slowest of the week! You’ve waited an eternity for it to be dinnertime, who wants to wait any longer to eat? Food truck = fast. Fast is good.

1. Doing Good One Meal at a Time These food trucks aren't just feeding our community, they are caring for it too. Each one of the trucks will donate to a specific non-profit and that’s something we can all feel good about.

Check out the Facebook pages (click the date for more details) for each event as the date gets closer to see what trucks will be there and which non-profit we will be supporting!

November 21: Food Trucks will be located around Festival Park and we will have Santa on site for special Monday night visits!

December 12Food Trucks will be located around Festival Park and we will have Santa on site for special Monday night visits!

Hey, Ladies!!

School is back in session...it was great having the kids home, but a little quieter now they are back learning and on a schedule. So we want to celebrate on Thursday, September 22 by hosting The Village Ladies’ Night...Ladies, we deserve this! All this:

First 100 Ladies get a FREE "Shopping is Cheaper than Therapy" t-shirt!

Meet us in Festival Park at the Gazebo starting at 5pm. No size quarantee.

FREE Sunset Yoga

Alison Dejaeger from Intentional yogaPerhaps you’ve spent the day locked away in the office, the air conditioning blasting frigid air and no sight of blue, sunny skies. Let me recommend sun salutations under the real sunset!  Ladies’ Night features outdoor yoga at 7:30pm in Festival Park and brought to you by Lululemon, check out the event page on Facebook.  Bring your own mat but the class is free! Now that’s good karma!

Shopping (this just includes a couple)

Perhaps you’ve spent the day herding cats….. or, er…. taxi-ing around the kids. Some retail therapy may be just the soul soothing balm you need, and at a discount? Even better! On Ladies’ Night when you schedule a styling appointment in advance at White House Black Market, you will receive 10 percent off your entire purchase. The stylists at WHBM have a passion for making women look beautiful! Let that passion work for you by calling 248.375.8190!

J.Jill is getting into the game with offering an additional 10% off on September 22....just let them know you are there for Ladies Night, it's really that simple!

At Paper Sourceyou can stop in to create a "Make & Take" card for $8 and also receive a 10% coupon good off of your total purchase that same night!

Friends I get it.

In the winter it’s hard to get motivated to go out. The couch and Netflix have a tremendous pull when it’s dark at 5 p.m. and 5 below. If you spent the cold months handing out rainchecks to friends, now is the time to cash them in before the snow starts to fall. Let me recommend $5 Flirtinis with friends at Bravo. The delish drink has all your favorite flavors of fall and it’s on special for Ladies’ Night. It tastes even better on Bravo’s lovely patio.

Food

If all of these activities are making you hungry, The Village is ready to help you out. B Spot is offereing the ladies $3 draft beers and $3 off all signature burgers! Looking for something sweet? Your Yummie Yogurt is $1 off during Ladies’ Night.

Summer is over and fall way too short so make the most of it! The Village will help! Ladies’ Night Out is 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on September 22. Stay connected with The Village through Facebook or Instragram to learn of upcoming activities and offers featured on upcoming Ladies’ Night.

Win

Francesca's is offering the change to win a shopping therapy bag, simply stop by and filling out a chance to win on September 22. Lane Bryant is giving away a $25 gift card, stop in the store and fill out your chance to win.

See you there!

The Village of Rochester Hills is excited to once again bring back our music program for children and their caregivers. Every Wednesday, starting on June 22 and running until August 24, we will enjoy reading a book together, music (singing and dancing), an activity or craft with our friends from the North Oakland Family YMCA and of course, friendship making! We start the day at 10:30am and are normally done by 11:30am, but we always have plenty of new friendships made and people stay in the park to chat, picnic and have lunch at one of our great restaurants in the Village.

Spring is about renewal. It is about new life and warm weather. Michigan springtime is welcomed with open-arms as most of us are ready and excited to have winter behind us.  When talking or thinking about springtime, two things come to mind for many; flowers and spring fashions. Being in the heart of Rochester Hills, one of the leading cities according to Money Magazine, it is important that we are creating spring for our community.

Camo

The Village of Rochester Hills meets this challenge with enthusiasm; each season providing the community a place to go and enjoy the outdoors. If you have stopped in or driven by in the last few weeks, you will witness the holiday lights coming down, the bright yellow pansies adorning all the baskets and the spring gazebo ready for bunny visits. Spring has arrived!

DaretobeBare

Creating community excitement and a reason to celebrate spring is next. We have the flowers covered…now on to the spring fashions. The Village of Rochester Hills has a spring game to play for everyone in the community. It is a real game of “I-SPY” spring fashions.

Gingham

First, go through your closets and donate any clothes you have not worn in the last year. There are plenty of organizations in our community that would welcome your donations and many who are in need of your unworn clothing.

And we want to see those styles on you! Here is where the “I-Spy” comes into play. Head to the Village of Rochester Hills and find spring trends that are listed above. Find them at any of the Village stores.

You can take a selfie, take a photo of a friend, take a picture of the item in the store…be creative! You then share those photos on the Village Facebook page and you can win Village gift cards! It is a great way to enjoy the spring atmosphere and win some money to start updating your spring wardrobe all at the same time!
